Getting to know Chris Singleton

Chris Singleton
Today I’m going to be taking a look at Chris Singleton
Here is what I’ve found (most info from draftexpress.com, nbadraft.net, youtube.)
Physicals
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 210 lbs
Birthday: 11-21-89 (21year old; Junior at Florida State)
*Top 5 forward in draft, top 20 player overall
*SF
Chris Singleton is a very intriguing prospect to me. He’s an athletic forward with good size and length. His strengths don’t come on the offensive end like most athletic forwards, but on the defensive end.
Offense is Singleton’s biggest weakness. He did score 13 points a game last year in 30 minutes, but he is not the type of player that creates his shot or makes a lot of jumpers. Most of his points seem to come in transition, baseline, or with offensive put backs. He has what it takes to develop a good jump shot, and when he does it will drastically improve his overall game.
Like I said, Singleton really shines on the defensive end. He was a top defensive player for the #1 defensive team in the NCAA last year. He is very versatile on the defensive end, and puts his size/length to good use. Singleton has the ability to guard other athletic forwards, but can also defend face-up/back-to-the-basket power forwards and even has the ability to defend guards (when switched on to them) if needed.
Overall, Singleton is probably not going to be a player that goes out and score 15-20 points a night, but more of a guy who goes out and gets you steals, blocks, and rebounds. He could be a lock-down defender who disturbs the passing lanes as well helping on other weak side defense. Right now he is projected to be taken around #20, but I still think that the Jazz should take a hard look at him. Jazz might need someone to take over for some of AK’s duties.
